Now that my own private practice is open, I'm happy to share my knowledge, experience and expertise with you. So please join me in living your best life.

The call for healing arrives differently for every medical provider. For myself,  medicine started with an anatomy and physiology class in undergraduate where my professor intrigued me with his extensive knowledge of the human body. My  interest in health, nutrition and fitness brought me to AT Still University of Health Sciences where I earned my Master of Science in Physician Assistant studies.

After graduation I pursued an interest in emergency medicine. I learned the  rigors of medicine which honed my skills as a provider. I recognized the need for primary care providers and pursued this interest at a  community health center in Ashland, Oregon.

But something was still missing, and I found that answer after attending a medical  conference through The Institute of Functional Medicine. This conference  propelled me into a whole new way of thinking. Excited and motivated, I made  the decision to become a Certified Functional Medicine Provider through The Institute for Functional Medicine, serving as both a Primary Care Provider and Women’s Health. This journey filled me in ways unexpected. I learned that treating the whole person meant digging deep into their entire story.

The human being is not separated by their parts. The functional medical approach addresses the root cause of disease so true  healing can unfold.

This approach addresses the root cause of disease so true  healing can unfold.”

My goal as your provider is to help you discover your strengths, support you with evidence based medicine and integrative approaches so you can live your best life.

MotherRoot is the culmination of over 23 years in the medical field. After practicing as a Certified Nurse Midwife and serving women throughout the lifespan I discovered treating clients meant treating the entire person mind, body, and spirit.

Here at MotherRoot I have a women’s health practice & a behavioral health practice.

Remember, you are the author of your life and I am here t0 help support you and guide your decisions with informed choice.

What do my letters mean?

I love answering this question because I get the opportunity to expound about the history of the Doctor of Nursing Degree (ND) In 1979, Case Western University in Cleveland Ohio developed the first nursing doctorate degree (ND). With foresight and vision Dr Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, LL (AAN) brought the ND to the University Colorado Health Sciences School of Nursing in 1990 (Watson, 2024). The ND was a graduate clinical degree which provided depth preparation for patient care, program development, case management in medical settings. The ND prepared the graduate to function as an advanced practice nurse. The program was 4 years, full time study including summers, 3,800 clinical hours, including a 1 year residency and thesis paper. The ND was a professional clinical doctorate emphasizing state of the art practice, clinical research and clinical instruction. It was the first professional degree analogous to the first professional degree granted in the fields of medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry. The Doctor of Nursing Practice has now become its successor (University Colorado, 2024).

My other degrees and certificates are Bachelor Science of Nursing (BSN), Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN), University of Colorado Health Sciences. Post Masters Certificate Midwifery University Colorado Health Sciences Board Certified (CNM/APRN), Post Masters Certificate Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner-Board Certified Duke University (PMHNP). Bachelor of Fine Arts Indiana University (BFA), Bachelor of Journalism Indiana University (BAJ).
